Brian Hotchkiss
I’ve spent twenty years on the business side of drug development, most of it as the person responsible for a company’s partnerships and its corporate strategy.
I started in R&D business development at Pfizer, where I led or supported about twenty transactions and ran R&D finance for a site. I was the seventh employee and first BD hire at Ember Therapeutics, where I negotiated a broad pharma collaboration and then led the merger when our lead program was discontinued. At Stealth BioTherapeutics I rose from Senior Director to EVP of Business Development & Strategy, leading the company’s largest partnerships and building its BD function. I’ve since been Chief Business Officer at two venture-backed neuroscience companies, Protego Biopharmaceuticals and Bexorg, where I negotiated and expanded the Biohaven collaboration.
My training is in chemical engineering (B.S. Cornell, M.S. Iowa), business (MBA, Darden), and biology (M.A., Brown, completed while working full time). That combination is why I’m comfortable in the science, the model, and the negotiation at the same time.
I live in Lexington, Massachusetts, and work with companies in Boston and remotely. Outside of work I serve on the Development Committee of the Association for Autism and Neurodiversity.
